The primary mission of the library is to support the curriculum and mission of Marian High School. To accomplish this mission, the librarian supports the curriculum while acquiring print and nonprint materials and assisting students using these materials. Reference books, encyclopedias, and dictionaries on literature, history, foreign languages, sciences, and religion (print and online) are used for research and school assignments. The librarian collaborates with teachers and administrators in educating students. Students are taught to use information effectively and responsibly as well as how to document sources, do bibliographies and footnotes, and avoid plagiarism. An extensive circulating book collection is available for academic work. The librarian will assist patrons in using this collection also for recreational reading– to foster a love of reading. The library is a safe, quiet and productive environment for the Marian community.
