Catholic Schools Week Prayer Services

Catholic Schools week is a nationwide celebration of Catholic education. This year’s theme is Learn, Serve, Lead, and Succeed. The Junior and Senior Peer Ministry classes, along with their theology teacher, Mrs. Matos Di Lascio, worked together to create a unique prayer service to kick off the week. Each theology class meet in the chapel individually and were lead in prayer, reflection, and discussion by peer ministers.

Each prayer service was tailored to the grade level present and highlighted the different stages of their Marian career. The Freshmen class focused on the word learn, as they are still being welcomed in and adjusting to their new community. The Sophomores were given the word serve and discussed the importance of giving back to the community, just as they did on their class service day. The Juniors received the word lead, highlighting their role as upperclassmen and the responsibilities that come along with it. Seniors had succeed, and discussed what this meant to them, those who’ve helped them succeed, and goals they have for the future.

These smaller gatherings allowed the students to connect in a different way than the traditional school wide liturgy. The peer ministers hope these chapel prayer services remain a part of Catholic Schools Week for years to come.
