Marian Homecoming 2017
Our Marian Mustangs came in strong on Friday at the Pep Rally, the exciting finale to an exhilarating Spirit Week. The Pep Rally kicked off with the seniors running through the gym, amping up the crowd. The Sophomores earned a point for the first activity, a game of knockout. In the next activity, Freshman ran away with the W at the relay. Freshman won again in the pie eating contest, earning another point for their grade. Yet the Seniors’ victory in capture the flag was most impressive for the entirety of Spirit Week, a dramatic triumph in an increasingly close race with the Juniors.
The race for Homecoming King and Queen was equally close. Our couples Rosa Ruiz and Ned Chen, Rua McGarry and Ryan Gasparro, and Elizabeth Bishop and Liam Flaherty came out onto the gym floor as the Pep Rally drew to a close. After a week of intense campaigning, Ned Chen and Rua McGarry were crowned Homecoming King and Queen 2017.
The spirit from the school week carried over to the football game. The Marian-Keefe Tech football team won 29-6 at the homecoming game against St. Joseph-Matignon, a perfect ending to Spirit Week. The seniors playing fall sports were also celebrated at halftime, as they marched onto the field with their parents. The students also participated in a ‘blackout,’ where many of the students dressed completely in black. It seems that Spirit Week 2017 was an overwhelming success!
