Senior Reflection on Mainstagers Competition Performance

About two weeks ago, the Marian Mainstagers traveled to Attleboro to compete at the preliminary round of the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild High School Drama Festival. Led by Mr. Flynn and Mr. Kozlowski, our director and technical director respectively, we performed our play “The Hamlet Thrill-Mageddon” against several other schools, including Attleboro High School and Sharon High School.

The festival day was a great experience as we laughed and cried our way through the other performances. We exchanged gifts, had impromptu dance parties, and shared our mutual love for theater. Marian performed seventh out of eight on show day, bringing the audience to its feet for a standing ovation after forty minutes of wacky antics.

We ended the day with a pizza party and party where we turned off the lights and danced to Hamilton, along with some pop songs. Then came the awards ceremony where seniors Nick Barry and Claire Paulson received All-Star Company awards for student directing, and junior Aidan Scamby was awarded an acting award for his portrayal of Hamlet. In the end, Marian did not move on to the next round, but we are proud of our production and everyone in the company.
