What It’s Like to Transfer to Marian

Hey! My name is Valerie Foley, I’m a transfer at Marian this year as a sophomore. I came into Marian thinking that I would really only focus on school this year, and nothing else. But now, I don’t think I’ve ever loved a school so much- and it only just started! This is my third school in three years, due to moving towns. So naturally, I was used to being the new kid. But here at Marian, it’s like everyone is one big family. Something I haven’t seen at the other school’s I’ve been to. Everyone knows everyone, and people are just so inviting and kind. It came as a shock to me, honestly. I found myself with wonderful friends within the first week of school, and all my teachers have such wonderful relationships with all the students, which really makes me feel at home. I felt uneasy coming into Marian, I wasn’t sure if there would be many people I could relate to or talk to since it was such a small school. But I have never been so wrong- I think moving to Marian was the best decision I could have made, in terms of what school I wanted to move to. I love my classes and my teachers are always so open to help me and stay after if I need to. I have a feeling this will be a good year.
